![]() To finalise this research into the theory behind layout design, I put together a small mind-map in my sketchbook. These were the Golden Ratio, Rule of Thirds, and 960 system. Both gave comprehensive explanations on how to use grids when designing page layouts, and touched on the Golden Section technique as well.ĬreativeBloq stressed the importance of using grids to:ĭesignmodo gave a brief history on Design Theory, before going on to talk about 3 grid layout systems that are widely used. This led me to the sites CreativeBloq and Designmodo. I already have quite a solid understanding of how the Golden Ratio could be used in design, however felt that I should delve into more depth on how to apply grid-theory to layouts. It suggests that there are 2 main practices that one should follow when creating a layout design: The Phi (Golden Section) rule, and Grid theory.
